Stephanie C. Chau
Partner, Co-Chair of Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice
Stephanie Chau is a partner with a diverse litigation practice. She represents clients at all levels of court in the Province of Alberta, with frequent appearances in the Court of King’s Bench.
At the forefront of Stephanie’s practice is her experience in Debt Recovery and Realization. She strives to achieve the highest recovery possible on behalf of financial institutions and private lenders while safeguarding them from financial and reputational risks. Stephanie also frequently represents large institutional lenders on matters involving contractual disputes and complex fraud litigation.
Stephanie also acts on behalf of both corporations and individuals, in matters involving shareholder disputes, breach of contract issues, negligence claims, and real estate disputes. In addition, she represents landowners, tenants and mortgagees in provincial and municipal land expropriation matters, and clients in all facets of condominium governance and litigation.
In her Employment Law practice, Stephanie regularly represents both employers and employees with all aspects of employment law, including wrongful dismissal claims, human rights complaints, and the negotiation and preparation of employment agreements.
As an active member of the Canadian Bar Association, Stephanie is currently serving her fifth term as the Co-Chair of the Civil Litigation subsection and is also a member of the Debtor and Creditor Law and Foreclosure Law subsections. She has recently begun a 2-year term as the Canadian Bar Association Alberta North Section Coordinator.
Outside of the office and courtroom, Stephanie can be found dancing, practicing yoga, skiing, or travelling with her husband and two children.
