Applications are being accepted for an Insolvency Paralegal to join a busy insolvency litigation practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Primarily responsible to perform paralegal tasks on client files in a specified insolvency law practice.
- Works independently in the completion of insolvency, foreclosure and judgment enforcement matters from commencement of proceedings to sale of assets (start to finish).
- Receives instructions from lawyers within the practice area and works with minimal supervision under the direction of a lawyer to complete all tasks.
- Extensive communications with all parties in insolvency matters including clients, counsel, borrowers and service providers.
- Completes documentation and materials through the use of precedents.
- Identifies and prepares documentation to suit different circumstances.
- Prepares and organizes proceedings and materials, paper and electronic, using specialized software programs.
- Develops and maintains firm precedents for insolvency litigation.
- Calculates distributions of funds involving detailed accounting.
- Prepares final reporting to client.
- Takes initiative based on knowledge of the legal process to advance file.
- Assists with the development, training, and mentoring of other legal assistants in insolvency.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, organized, detail and accuracy oriented with excellent time management and communication skills. Possesses extensive knowledge of the legal procedures in the specific practice area of insolvency. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with Acumin and iManage are assets.
